Changes to this Policy
We keep this Policy under regular review and may update it from time to time to reflect changes in the law or our practices. This version was last updated in June 2026. It is important that the personal data we hold about you is accurate and current, so please keep us informed if your personal data changes during your relationship with us. We will notify you of any changes that materially affect how we use your personal information.
Third-Party Links
The Website may include links to third-party websites, plug-ins and applications (for example, social media platforms and our community channels). Clicking on those links or enabling those connections may allow third parties to collect or share data about you. We do not control these third-party websites and are not responsible for their privacy practices. When you leave the Website, we encourage you to read the privacy policy of every website you visit.
Legal Bases for Processing
We rely on the following legal bases to process your personal information:
Performance of a contract — to register your account, process your entries and payments, run the competitions you enter, and deliver prizes to winners.
Consent — for example, when you agree to receive marketing or when you allow us to place non-essential cookies on your device. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
Legitimate interests — where it is in our legitimate interests to process your data and those interests are not overridden by your rights (for example, to prevent fraud, secure and improve the Website, understand how customers use our services, and grow our business), and we take care to safeguard your rights.
Legal obligation — where we are required to process data to comply with the law (for example, age, identity and residency verification, record-keeping and tax obligations).
Personal Information We Collect
“Personal data” means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include data where the identity has been removed (anonymous data). We may collect, use, store and transfer the following kinds of personal data about you:
Identity Data — first name, last name, username, date of birth, and age and residency verification details.
Contact Data — e-mail address, telephone number, billing address and delivery address.
Financial Data — payment card details (processed securely by our payment provider; we do not store full card details ourselves).
Transaction Data — details of your entries, Tickets purchased, payments to and from you, and Site Credit.
Technical Data — internet protocol (IP) address, login data, browser type and version, time zone and location, operating system and platform, and other technology on the devices you use to access the Website.
Profile Data — your username and password, entries and orders, preferences, feedback and survey responses.
Usage Data — information about how you use the Website and our services.
Marketing and Communications Data — your preferences for receiving marketing from us and your communication preferences.
This information is collected primarily from you when you register, enter a competition, make a purchase or contact us, and automatically through cookies and similar technologies when you use the Website. We may also collect Aggregated Data (such as statistical or demographic data) which is not considered personal data in law because it does not directly or indirectly identify you.
We do not collect any Special Categories of Personal Data about you (such as details of your race or ethnicity, religious beliefs, sex life, sexual orientation, political opinions, trade union membership, health, or genetic and biometric data), nor information about criminal convictions and offences.
How We Use Your Personal Information
We use your personal information for the following purposes:
to register and manage your account;
to operate the competitions promoted on the Website, including allocating Tickets and conducting Draws;
to process and verify your entries and payments, and to manage Site Credit, fees and refunds;
to verify the age, identity and residency of entrants and winners (KYC), to confirm eligibility to enter (including residency in Great Britain), and to comply with our legal obligations;
to notify, verify and announce winners, and (with consent or as set out in our Terms) to publish winner content;
to respond to your enquiries and provide customer support;
to send you marketing communications where you have consented or where we are otherwise permitted to do so;
to deliver and measure advertising, including through Meta, Google and TikTok;
to administer, secure and improve the Website, prevent and detect fraud, and for internal record-keeping; and
to comply with legal, regulatory and good-governance obligations.
The main purposes for which we use your data, and the legal bases we rely on, are:
Registering you as a new account holder — using Identity and Contact data, on the basis of performance of a contract.
Enabling you to enter and take part in competitions, and conducting Draws — using Identity, Contact, Profile, Usage and Transaction data, on the basis of performance of a contract and our legitimate interests in running and growing the competitions.
Processing payments, managing Site Credit and recovering money owed — using Identity, Contact, Financial and Transaction data, on the basis of performance of a contract and our legitimate interests in recovering debts.
Verifying the age, identity and residency of entrants and winners (KYC) — using Identity and Contact data, on the basis of our legal obligations and our legitimate interests in preventing fraud and ensuring only eligible entrants take part.
Managing our relationship with you and notifying you of changes — using Identity, Contact, Profile and Marketing data, on the basis of performance of a contract, our legal obligations and our legitimate interests.
Delivering and measuring advertising and marketing — using Identity, Contact, Profile, Usage, Technical and Marketing data, on the basis of consent (where required) and our legitimate interests in informing our marketing.
Administering, securing and improving the Website, and preventing fraud — using Identity, Contact, Technical and Usage data, on the basis of our legitimate interests and our legal obligations.
Marketing
We may send you information about new competitions, prizes, promotions and offers that may be of interest to you, by e-mail, telephone, post, SMS or social media, where you have consented or where we are otherwise permitted to do so. We use Klaviyo to manage and send our e-mail and SMS marketing. You can opt out of marketing at any time — see “Opting Out” below. Opting out of marketing will not stop service communications relating to your account, entries or prizes.
Who We Share Your Information With
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to operate our business, and on a need-to-know basis. The categories of recipients include:
Service providers acting on our behalf, including our payment provider (Cashflows), our e-mail and SMS platform (Klaviyo), and our website hosting and IT providers (WordPress/WooCommerce and related hosting).
Advertising and analytics partners, including Meta (Facebook/Instagram) via the Meta Pixel and Conversions API, Google (Google Analytics and Google Ads) and TikTok (TikTok Pixel), used to measure and deliver advertising and to understand how the Website is used.
Professional advisers and authorities, including accountants, auditors and legal advisers, and the police, courts or regulators where required or permitted by law.
A buyer or successor in the event of a restructuring, merger or sale of all or part of our business.
Where these providers process your data on our behalf, they do so under contract and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes except as described in this Policy or their own privacy policies.
International Transfers
Some of our service providers and advertising partners (including Klaviyo, Meta, Google and TikTok) are based outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States, so your personal data may be transferred to, stored or processed outside the UK. Where we transfer data outside the UK, we ensure a similar degree of protection by relying on UK adequacy regulations where they apply, or by putting in place appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or the International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Data Security
We take reasonable physical, technical and administrative measures to protect your personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure or alteration. Payment card transactions are handled securely by our payment provider, and we do not store full card details. However, no transmission of data over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and you accept the inherent security risks of providing information online; we will not be held responsible for any breach of security unless it is caused by our negligence or that of our agents.
Data Retention
We will only retain your personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, including to satisfy any legal, regulatory, tax, accounting or reporting requirements, and to resolve disputes. By law we must keep basic information about our customers (including Identity, Contact, Financial and Transaction Data) for six years after they cease to be customers, for tax purposes. We may retain data for longer where there is a complaint or a realistic prospect of litigation. In some cases we will anonymise your data, after which it may be used indefinitely without further notice to you.
Your Legal Rights
Under data protection law you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
Access — to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction — to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
Erasure — to ask us to delete your data where there is no good reason for us to continue processing it.
Objection — to object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and to object to direct marketing at any time.
Restriction — to ask us to suspend the processing of your data in certain circumstances.
Portability — to receive certain data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, or to have it transferred to another controller.
Withdraw consent — to withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@bigtechrush.com or by post at the address above. We may need to verify your identity before responding. There are some exceptions to these rights, and we will tell you if an exception applies to your request.
Opting Out
You can ask us to stop sending you marketing messages at any time by following the unsubscribe link in any marketing e-mail, adjusting your preferences in your account, or contacting us at info@bigtechrush.com. Opting out of marketing will not affect communications we send you in relation to your account, your entries or any prize.
Cookies
A cookie is a small data file stored on your device by a website. We use cookies and similar technologies (such as pixels and tags) to operate the Website, to remember your preferences, to understand how the Website is used, and to deliver and measure advertising. We group cookies into four categories, in line with the International Chamber of Commerce UK Cookie Guide:
Category 1 — Strictly necessary: required for the Website to function (for example, to keep you logged in, hold your basket and process checkout securely).
Category 2 — Performance / analytics: help us understand how visitors use the Website so we can improve it.
Category 3 — Functionality: remember choices you make to personalise your experience.
Category 4 — Targeting / advertising: used to deliver relevant advertising and measure campaign performance across Meta, Google and TikTok.
The main cookies and similar technologies we use are set out below. The exact cookies and durations may vary as we update the Website and our tools:
Strictly necessary (Category 1): WooCommerce and WordPress session and security cookies — for example a checkout session cookie lasting around 2 days, a basket cookie lasting for your session, and a security token. These keep you logged in, hold your basket and protect the checkout.
Performance / analytics (Category 2): Google Analytics cookies (_ga, up to 2 years; _gid, 1 day; _gat, 1 minute) and the Klaviyo cookie (__kla_id, around 2 years). These help us understand how visitors use the Website.
Targeting / advertising (Category 4): the Google Ads cookie (_gcl_au, around 3 months), the Meta Pixel cookies (_fbp and fr, around 3 months) and the TikTok Pixel cookie (_ttp, around 13 months). These deliver and measure our advertising across Google, Meta and TikTok.
We also use the Meta Conversions API and equivalent server-side tracking, which share certain event and contact data directly with Meta, Google and TikTok to measure advertising. This data is used to match activity to advertising and is subject to the relevant platform’s own privacy policy.
Managing Cookies
When you first visit the Website, a banner will ask for your consent to non-essential cookies. If you click “Accept All” we will set cookies from all four categories. If you click “Reject All” we will set only strictly necessary (Category 1) cookies. You can also use the “Customise” option to choose which categories to allow, and you can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings on the Website. You can additionally block or delete cookies through your browser settings, although doing so may affect the functionality of the Website. For Google Analytics specifically, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
